Very detailed guide focusing primarily on passing the test--not very "theoretical", way more a hands on guide to passing the test。 Very detailed guide focusing primarily on passing the test--not very "theoretical", way more a hands on guide to passing the test。 。。。more

I found this book hard to follow and disorganized。

Nice Review of the CBK Material Well written and structured summary of the information covered in the CBK。 I read the CBK first, immediately followed by the study guide。 The flow and content is more engaging than the CBK, for sure。 Nice work。

Seriously, what is it with the word attenuate everywhere I'm used to seeing mitigate? Seriously, what is it with the word attenuate everywhere I'm used to seeing mitigate? 。。。more

I really didn't like this book or find it particularly useful。 Having just sat the exam (and passed), I found a lot of questions in the exam that I didn't feel had been covered by the material in the book。 Within the book itself, I found the assessment/end of chapter assessments/practice exam too much about understanding semantics and not actual useful information。 As a cloud security professional, does it really matter whether I refer to the term used for SSO across business domains as "federat I really didn't like this book or find it particularly useful。 Having just sat the exam (and passed), I found a lot of questions in the exam that I didn't feel had been covered by the material in the book。 Within the book itself, I found the assessment/end of chapter assessments/practice exam too much about understanding semantics and not actual useful information。 As a cloud security professional, does it really matter whether I refer to the term used for SSO across business domains as "federation" or "federated identity management", not in the slightest。 Other questions were purposely misleading with 4 very similar answers, separated by one or two different words。 Bad practice for exam question writing。 Simlarly, the practice exam had no scenario based questions, despite these being in the exam。 I won't be recommending this book to colleagues looking to sit the exam。 。。。more

I found this study guide to be much better than The Official (ISC)2 Guide to the CCSP CBK, which is poorly written。 This book is clear, coherent, and comprehensive。 In addition to the technical content, it provides advice on preparing for the CCSP exam。 The sample questions are reminiscent of the question style on the CISSP exam, so I assume they are a reasonable approximation of the type of questions a candidate for certification would face。The only unusual thing about this book was the authors I found this study guide to be much better than The Official (ISC)2 Guide to the CCSP CBK, which is poorly written。 This book is clear, coherent, and comprehensive。 In addition to the technical content, it provides advice on preparing for the CCSP exam。 The sample questions are reminiscent of the question style on the CISSP exam, so I assume they are a reasonable approximation of the type of questions a candidate for certification would face。The only unusual thing about this book was the authors' fondness for the words "attenuate" (instead of "reduce" or "decrease") and "motif" (instead of "model" or "architecture")。 Each of these uncommon words appears 25-30 times。Update: I wrote my CCSP exam and passed on the first attempt。 I spent maybe six hours the night before going over this book and doing the online practice questions that come with the book。 I found the process of registering for the online study aids to be quite confusing, and I had to contact the publisher's support line。 I found the online questions helpful, although I also found, in hindsight, that they focused on different topics than the exam did and were more knowledge-based (terms and definitions) than the exam, which was scenario-based (picking a course of action in a given scenario)。 The book certainly helped, but I also have over 25 years of experience in IT security。 Someone with less experience would be well advised to also seek out additional study material in addition to this book。 。。。more
